Emma Swain, QUB, will give a talk on Animals, Evolution and the Victorians on Wednesday 3 October at 6.30pm in the Merrion Room.
The question, “What makes us human?” has a perennial fascination. This talk will explore how the Victorians, concerned about the impact of evolution on religious beliefs, considered the boundary between humans and other animals.
Emma Swain is completing her PhD at Queen’s University Belfast on Victorian science, and the relationship between humans and animals, in religious periodicals.
The event is free to book here
