Abstract and Speaker Biography: Ian Miller is Lecturer in Medical History at Ulster University. Ian has authored 6 book on medical history on topics including the history of the stomach, force feeding and how the Irish diet changed after the Famine. He is also PI on the Epidemic Belfast project. Set up during COVID, this explores Belfast’s often overlooked medical history. This paper revisits an Irish Research Council funded project on the history of the post-Famine diet in light of recent concern over issues such as food poverty.
